Photo layouts

When a post has two or more photos, you can choose a photo layout: two photos side by side, one big photo with two stacked beside it, a magazine page, a 3 by 3 grid. Without one, the post uses the Automatic layout.

My Dashboard (/dashboard/home) → Create post → Media tab. Photo layout appears under your photos once you’ve added two or more.

  1. Add your photos on the Media tab.
  2. Under Photo layout, select one of the small drawings. Each shows the layout’s shape with numbered boxes: photo 1 goes in box 1, photo 2 in box 2, and so on. Automatic is the first choice.
  3. The layout opens as a preview with your own photos in it, so you see exactly what your followers will see.
  4. Write your caption and select Post.

Only layouts that fit are offered: a layout with three boxes needs at least three photos. Layouts that use all your photos come first. If your post has more photos than the layout has boxes, the preview says how many show, and the last box shows + and the number of the others. Every photo still opens when someone selects the post’s photos.

The order of your photos is the order of the boxes. On each photo in the list, the number shows its place, and the ‹ button (Move photo N earlier) moves it one place up. To put your best photo in the big box of Feature and two, move it to the first place.

Edit post keeps your photos as they are but lets you choose another layout, or Automatic again. Removing photos while you write drops a layout that no longer fits.

Your post shows in the layout in the Dashboard feed and on your public profile’s page, at every screen size.
