What the software costs
United Pet Club charges you in one of three ways, depending on what you are:
| You are | You pay | You do not pay |
|---|---|---|
| A service business — groomer, trainer, kennel, cattery, sitter, daycare, vet clinic taking bookings | A small Commission on each booking (with a small minimum; classes have their own rate), the Platform Processing Fee on card payments, and Stripe Payout Fees at Stripe’s cost when your money is paid out | A subscription; anything per staff member, location, vehicle, service or client; anything in a month with no bookings |
| A breeder with no bookable services | A Litter Pass (US$29) for each litter you sell, and contract packs for the contracts you send | Anything to register a litter; any percentage of the animals you sell |
| A builder of grooming vans, trailers or mobile units | US$50 a month for each live quote ad, and a Commission of 1.25% of each accepted quote’s total, plus the Platform Processing Fee on the deposit and Stripe Payout Fees when it’s paid out | Anything on the balance the buyer pays you directly; anything for an ad while it’s paused |
| A pet parent | Nothing — microchip registration, contact updates, health records and lost-pet alerts are free for the animal’s lifetime | — |
The public pages at unitedpetclub.com/pricing spell each of these out, with a calculator for service businesses. This page is the guide to what they mean and where to look in the Dashboard.
The numbers are your country’s, and they come from the same place the Dashboard reads
Section titled “The numbers are your country’s, and they come from the same place the Dashboard reads”Every figure on the pricing pages — the Commission on bookings and classes and its minimum, the Platform Processing Fee, the Stripe Payout Fees and the minimum payout, the Pro price, the Litter Pass, the contract packs, Audience Insights Pro, the add-ons, the Partner threshold, the deposit cap — is read at render time from the platform’s own fee schedule and price list for one country at a time. The fees and limits (the Commission and its minimum, the Platform Processing Fee, the Stripe Payout Fees, the minimum payout, the Partner threshold, the deposit cap) are that country’s, in its currency. The Pro price, the Litter Pass, the contract packs, Audience Insights Pro and the add-ons are in US dollars in every country, Canada included, and the page shows them in US dollars next to your country’s fees. Nothing is typed into the page by hand.
The page picks the country from your connection, then from the language you are reading in, and says so at the top (“Prices for Canada, in CAD”). Use the switcher there to see another country.
Where we do not yet publish a schedule in your currency, the page shows our USD schedule — the currency you will be charged in — with an estimate in your own currency next to each exact USD amount (”≈€0,44 (US$0.50)”), converted at the European Central Bank’s reference rate of the day. The estimate is for orientation only; your card statement shows the USD amount.
Your Dashboard → Finances → Fees page shows the same schedule for the country your business is registered in — the two can never disagree, because they read the same rows. See Fees for how to read that page and Getting paid for bookings for how the fees are taken from a payout.
Service businesses: the free plan
Section titled “Service businesses: the free plan”- The software is free. Online booking, calendars per staff member and per vehicle, clients and their animals, deposits and no-show fees, consent forms, three text reminders per appointment paid online (a booking paid in cash uses a text credit for each text), reviews, the directory listing, Reserve with Google and a website from a free template (see Your website; publishing your first website has a one-time US$50 setup fee (it includes the SSL certificate that secures your website), waived on a paid plan or with Partner status) are all included, with no cap on staff, locations or vehicles.
- Three steps before the first booking, none of them a charge. Your Schedule (the scheduler for every service you offer) asks you to connect payouts, agree to the service fees and add a card on file. The card is a $0 verification, used only for fees that can’t come out of a payout. See Schedule setup checklist.
- One Commission per booking: 1.25% (minimum $0.50 in Canada and the United States), taken once on the full booking amount. A deposit followed by a balance is one Commission, not two. Tips carry only the Platform Processing Fee, never the Commission.
- Classes have their own Commission, once per enrolment: 7% for a class held in person and 17% for an online class, minimum $0.50, plus the Platform Processing Fee. A class is a service that takes more than one client per session.
- The Platform Processing Fee is United Pet Club’s own published card rate, versioned, shown as current and upcoming under Finances → Fees, with advance notice before any change.
- Cash and bank-transfer bookings still owe the Commission on the amount you enter; it comes out of your next payout, or off your card on file at month end if there is no payout that month. See Marking a booking paid in cash.
- Payouts go to your bank through Stripe, weekly by default (on Fridays); you can pick monthly payouts, or daily ones with the instant-payout add-on, and the Dashboard shows what each choice costs. Automatic payouts are sent once your balance reaches $50, and you can ask for a smaller payout at any time after confirming its fees. See Payout settings.
- Stripe Payout Fees are what Stripe charges to send your money to your bank, passed on at exactly Stripe’s price with no margin: $2.00 in each calendar month you receive a payout, plus 0.25% + $0.25 per payout, with GST/HST added for Canadian accounts. They are itemized on your statement and netted from your earnings. See Fees.
The calculator on the service-businesses page takes your monthly revenue, average ticket, online share, locations, vehicles and what you pay a subscription tool today, and shows the Commission, the Platform Processing Fee, the all-in total, the comparison, and the point at which Pro or Partner becomes relevant — all with your country’s rates. Stripe Payout Fees are charged per payout, not per booking, so the calculator leaves them out; the page lists them under it.
Partner: earned, not bought
Section titled “Partner: earned, not bought”A rolling three-month average of on-platform bookings above the published threshold waives your website’s setup fee (and, on websites made before the website builder, removes the United Pet Club branding and adds pages you write yourself), and adds marketing email campaigns, Clientele Plus, lead follow-up and the Guided support plan (Help & support). There is nothing to buy; the Dashboard shows how close you are. See Becoming a Partner and Your website.
Pro: a fixed bill, if you prefer one
Section titled “Pro: a fixed bill, if you prefer one”Pro replaces the Commission on service bookings with a monthly (or annual) bill per unit — a location or a vehicle — and includes every Partner benefit from day one. Classes still pay their own Commission on Pro, and the Platform Processing Fee and Stripe Payout Fees are the same as on the free plan. The pricing page states the break-even in bookings per month; below it the free plan is cheaper, and the Dashboard shows last month’s fees next to what Pro would have cost. See Pro plan and add-ons.
Add-ons: only the things that cost us money
Section titled “Add-ons: only the things that cost us money”Route optimisation per vehicle, platform video per participant-minute (your own Zoom or Meet link is free), text credits (US$10 for 100 lasting 6 months, or US$90 for 1,000 lasting 12 months; one per text past the three an appointment paid online includes, and one per text on a booking paid in cash — see Pro plan and add-ons), credits for email sends beyond your allowance, instant payouts, each website beyond your first (US$15 a month once published), and connecting a domain you own to your website (US$10 a year for everyone; the first year is included from the website’s first publish). Same price on the free plan and on Pro, in US dollars wherever you are; none of them is ever required to keep taking bookings.
RetrieverAI (writing and designing with AI in the website, page, blog and design editors, and the RetrieverAI chat) runs on a RetrieverAI balance in US dollars:
- Add funds: add US$25, US$50 (you get US$55 to spend) or US$100 (you get US$110). Funds never expire, and plans don’t include AI.
- What it costs: each request is paid from the balance at what it costs to run. Most are a fraction of a cent.
- Where to see it: the editors show what’s left (“$24.37 left · Add funds”).
- Auto top-up (optional): under Billing → Add-ons, pick a pack and switch it on. When your balance drops to
US$10 we add that pack and charge your card on file.
- If the charge fails we try again once a day for 3 days, then switch auto top-up off and let you know.
- You can turn it off at any time.
Connecting apps to your bookings through the Partner API is free; it only needs a valid payment card on file. See Connected apps.
Sales & Marketing (finding and contacting other pet businesses) is a paid tool: a one-time US$50 setup, then US$10 for each business you add to your pipeline and US$0.10 for each message sent or received, billed with your platform fees. See Sales & Marketing.
Fees billed as you use them add up to a credit limit — $25 at first, rising to $200 — before your card is charged. See Credit limit and prepaid balance.
Breeders and kennels
Section titled “Breeders and kennels”- Registering a litter is free, on every plan, as often as you like — the record, the pups, weights, photos, pedigree, chip registration and transfers. Nothing is counted.
- Selling a litter takes a Litter Pass: US$29 once per litter, for its life. It unlocks the reservation queue, protected deposits on any plan, a contract per reservation, sharing the whole litter and full audience detail for that litter. Contracts are counted separately: one credit per contract, bought in packs of 10, 20 or 50 whose credits last 24 months.
- A breeder pays nothing else: no plan, and no percentage of animal sales, ever. (Until 12 October 2026 a yearly Breeder Pro plan bundled passes and contracts; it was retired.) See Litters and the Litter Pass.
- A kennel or cattery — any breeder that also takes bookings for boarding, daycare, training, grooming, stud service, handling or transport — runs on the service-business model above, and buys the same Litter Pass per litter it sells; Pro includes six passes a year.
- Protected deposits hold a buyer’s deposit (capped at a published amount or percentage of the price, whichever is lower) in the platform balance until both sides confirm the handover and the scanned chip matches the record. The Commission on a protected deposit is a percentage of the deposit, paid by the seller, plus the Platform Processing Fee; verified non-profit shelters and rescues pay the Platform Processing Fee only. See Animal listings.
- The breeder directory ranks on quality signals only. No plan, fee or deposit mode changes the order.
Builders: quote ads
Section titled “Builders: quote ads”Grooming vans, trailers and mobile units are sold by quote, not through the cart. A builder (a Manufacturer business with the Mobile Unit Builder specialty, approved to sell) publishes a quote ad; buyers ask for a quote, accept it and pay a deposit through United Pet Club, and pay the balance to the builder directly.
- The ad: US$50 per live ad per month, billed in advance on the ad’s monthly anniversary, in US dollars everywhere, plus GST/HST in Canada. No part months and no refund when you end an ad early; a paused ad isn’t billed. We can waive the fee for a business.
- The deal: a Commission of 1.25% of the accepted quote’s total, with no minimum, taken from the deposit first and the rest charged to your card on file. The Platform Processing Fee applies to the deposit only, and the Stripe Payout Fees to its payout. The balance carries no fee.
- Refunds: refunding the whole deposit returns the Commission; a partial refund keeps it.
See Quote requests for a worked example and Fees for the full list.
Support plans: how much help you want
Section titled “Support plans: how much help you want”Help with billing, payments and payouts, account access, security and anything that’s broken is free for every profile, and so is this guide. A support plan pays for deeper help with setting things up, and the plans differ in how far our team goes, not in how fast we answer:
| Plan | In plain words | Price (US dollars) |
|---|---|---|
| Guided | Show me: how-to answers and a look at your setup | US$29 a month, or US$290 a year |
| Assisted | Help me: we work through it with you, on a shared screen when that’s faster | US$119 a month, or US$1,190 a year |
| Hands-on | Do it for me: our team does the work, up to three hours of it every month | US$399 a month, or US$3,990 a year |
- Partner includes Guided and Pro includes Assisted, for as long as you have them.
- Extra hands-on time is US$120 an hour, or US$525 for 5 hours, and never expires.
- A 30-minute live session is US$59, with or without a plan.
- Plans are for business profiles; one plan covers every location. Canadian businesses pay GST/HST on top.
The pricing page lists them under Support plans, with the same numbers read from the same price list. Choose or change a plan in the Dashboard: see Help & support.
Frequently asked
Section titled “Frequently asked”Is the first booking really the only thing I pay for? Yes. A new service business pays nothing until a client pays it; the first booking owes the minimum Commission and the Platform Processing Fee, and that is all United Pet Club charges. When that money is paid out to your bank, Stripe’s own payout costs apply at Stripe’s price (the Stripe Payout Fees above).
Why a percentage rather than a subscription? Because a subscription bills you for the month you were on holiday, sick, or still building a clientele. A percentage only exists after a client has paid you — United Pet Club makes money when you make money, and staff, vans and locations are free because they are what bring you bookings.
Do prices differ by country? The fees do. The Commission and its minimum, the Platform Processing Fee, the Stripe Payout Fees and the minimum payout are set per country and shown in that country’s currency. Some countries inherit the platform-level rate until a country row is published; the pricing page and the Fees page both say which level applies. The Pro plan, the Litter Pass, the contract packs, Audience Insights Pro and the add-ons do not: they are priced in US dollars in every country, Canada included, and you pay them in US dollars.
Do I have to pay for support? No. Help with billing, payments, account access, security and anything that’s broken is free for everyone. A support plan only pays for deeper help with setting things up; see Support plans.
Where is the legal text? The public pricing page’s “fine print, in plain words” section is the schedule; the platform’s Terms of Service govern. The policy behind every number is in the company handbook’s finance section and in Fees.
