Scheduling a post
Any feed post (text, photos or a template) can be scheduled: you write it now, pick a date and time, and it’s published then, as if you’d posted it at that moment. Nobody else sees it until it goes out.
My Dashboard (/dashboard/home): Create post (from What’s new, <your name>?), and the
Scheduled panel just under What’s new.
Schedule a post
Section titled “Schedule a post”- Write your post in Create post.
- Select Schedule for later at the bottom left. A Publish on box opens with a date and time one hour from now. Change it to when you want the post to go out.
- The time is in your own time zone, which the box names (In your time zone (America/Vancouver).).
- Select Schedule (the Post button changes to it).
You see Scheduled for <date and time>. To post straight away after all, select Don’t schedule before posting.
| Choose a time… | Or you see |
|---|---|
| At least 5 minutes from now | Choose a time at least 5 minutes from now. |
| Within the next 90 days | Choose a time within the next 90 days. |
| With both a date and a time | Choose a date and a time. |
When it goes out
Section titled “When it goes out”Within about a minute of the time you chose, the post is published: it appears at the top of your followers’ feeds and on your public profile (if it’s Public), with the time it went out. Until then:
- Only you can see it, in the Scheduled panel. It isn’t in anyone’s feed, on your public profile, or in searches.
- Nobody can react to it, comment on it or report it.
- It was checked against our community rules when you scheduled it, so a post that breaks them can’t be scheduled either.
The Scheduled panel
Section titled “The Scheduled panel”While the profile you’re acting as has posts waiting, a panel sits just under What’s new: 1 scheduled post, 2 scheduled posts and so on. Select its title to fold it away or open it again. Each post shows when it goes out, and its first words (or its template headline, or the kind of post: Photo post, Template post…).
Each post has three actions:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Edit post | Opens the post in Edit post. Change anything you could change before, and the time in Publish on. Select Save changes. To publish it at once instead, select Don’t schedule: the main button becomes Publish now. |
| Publish now | Publishes it straight away. You see Posted. |
| The bin (Delete scheduled post) | Asks Delete it?; select Delete post to delete it, or Cancel. You see Scheduled post deleted. |
A scheduled post you change before it goes out isn’t marked Edited: nobody has seen it yet.
Scheduled posts belong to the profile you were acting as: switch to another profile and you see that profile’s scheduled posts instead.
