Live notifications
While you’re signed in, United Pet Club tells you about things as they happen, without you reloading the page. Most notifications arrive quietly: the number on the bell goes up and the notification waits there until you open it. Only the important ones also pop up in the corner of the screen.
What pops up and what waits in the bell
Section titled “What pops up and what waits in the bell”- Pops up: notifications that need your attention now, such as a security notice about your account (a new sign-in, a locked account) or an urgent alert about something you run. A short message slides into the corner, stays for a few seconds and disappears on its own. It is in the bell too.
- Waits in the bell: everything else, such as a sale, a new message, a pet transfer, a payment or billing notice, a reminder, or news. Nothing covers the page; the count on the bell goes up as soon as it arrives.
If you would rather get notifications in Telegram as well, see Telegram notifications.
The pop-up is a heads-up only. Nothing is lost if you miss it: the same notification also reaches you the usual way (by email, or on your device if you’ve turned that on) and is there when you next open the page it’s about. Which topics reach your devices is your choice: see Choose what reaches your devices.
The notification bell
Section titled “The notification bell”The bell at the top of the Dashboard keeps the notifications for the profile you are acting as: a sale, a pet transfer offered to you or accepted, a new message, a payment or billing notice, and more. Switch profile and the bell shows that profile’s notifications instead.
Focused and Other
Section titled “Focused and Other”The bell has two tabs:
| Tab | What lands there |
|---|---|
| Focused | Sales and new orders to fulfil, new messages and listing inquiries, pet transfers, payments that failed or a card that needs attention, contracts to sign, team requests, standing issues, and messages from someone who found your pet. Quotes too: a new quote request, a quote sent or updated for you, a quote of yours about to expire, a deposit to pay, a deal confirmed, a deposit or payment refunded, and a quote ad paused or suspended. |
| Other | Broadcasts from profiles you follow, teams you belong to or businesses whose offers you accepted, shipping updates on things you bought, reminders (a listing about to expire, a renewal coming up), replies to your reviews, saved-search matches, gifts claimed, and confirmations of something you just did. A quote that expired or was withdrawn, and the reminder that a quote you sent expires soon, also go here. |
- The number on the bell counts unread Focused notifications only, so it goes up for what needs you. The Other tab shows its own count on the tab.
- A notification stays unread (bold, with a dot) until you click it. Clicking marks it read and takes you to its page: a sale opens that sale, a message opens the conversation, a declined card opens your billing page. A notification that isn’t about anything specific just turns read.
- Mark all read clears the tab you’re looking at. The other tab keeps its count.
- Long lists scroll inside the bell’s panel.
- Notifications expire: most leave the bell after 30 days, or sooner when they are only relevant for a shorter time. A confirmation (something you just did yourself) leaves after about an hour, even while the bell is open. Read ones stay (shown as read) until they expire.
If notifications don’t show up
Section titled “If notifications don’t show up”- Make sure you’re signed in. Live notifications are only shown to signed-in users. On the public website and PetLink pages you won’t see any until you sign in.
- Click into the tab. If you signed in from another tab, the live connection starts the next time this tab gets focus — just click anywhere on the page.
- Reload the page. A reload restores the connection if your network dropped for a while.
- Check your connection. Live notifications need an open connection to United Pet Club; on a very restrictive network they may be blocked even though the rest of the site works. The notifications themselves still arrive by their other channels.
If none of that helps and you were expecting a notification, see Contact support.
