Fees

The grooming, training and veterinary booking software is free: no subscription, no charge per seat, location, service or client. What you pay has three names, and you’ll see them on every page that shows a fee:

NameWhat it isWho keeps it
CommissionUnited Pet Club’s percentage on each sale: 1.25% on a service booking, 7% on an in-person class, 17% on an online class, 1.25% of an accepted quoteUnited Pet Club
Platform Processing FeeUnited Pet Club’s published rate on card paymentsUnited Pet Club
Stripe Payout FeesWhat Stripe charges to send your earnings to your bank, passed on at Stripe’s price with nothing addedStripe

Finances → Fees in the Dashboard (/dashboard/finances/fees) shows all three for the country you sell in, so nothing on your statement is a surprise.

Every rate on the page is published per country. The page opens with Prices for Canada (or whichever country your payout account is in) and one of three notes:

  • These are the rates published for Canada. — your country has its own published rates. Canada and the United States do today, with the same numbers, each in its own currency.
  • No rates are published for … yet, so the rates for its region apply. — a neighbouring group of countries’ rates apply until yours are published.
  • No rates are published for … yet, so the platform rates apply. — United Pet Club’s default rates apply, in Canadian dollars.

Whichever applies, the numbers shown are the ones a booking in your country is actually priced at. The Stripe Payout Fees are published for Canada (in CAD) and the United States (in USD); anywhere else the card says No Stripe Payout Fees have been published for … yet.

All-in on a card-paid service booking: about 4.15% + $0.30 online and 3.95% + $0.05 in person, before the Stripe Payout Fees, which are charged per payout rather than per booking.

Some services are paid for in the store rather than booked: an adoption fee, an international relocation, a voucher for a groom. Since 17 October 2026 these pay the service-booking Commission, 1.25% of the purchase with the $0.50 minimum, plus the Platform Processing Fee, instead of the rate products pay.

  • What counts is how you listed it: a service (or a televet consultation) from the platform’s service catalog or your own. A donation listed in your store keeps the store rate; to raise money, run a fundraising campaign instead.
  • If a customer buys a product and a service from you in one order, the sale shows them as two parts: the product pays the store rate and carries the delivery, the service pays the booking rate.
  • On the Pro plan, the service-booking Commission is 0%, and that covers these purchases too.

Open Finances → Fees (there is also a What you pay button at the top of Finances → Receive Payments). The page’s introduction reads Your commission on each sale, the Platform Processing Fee on card payments and the Stripe Payout Fees on payouts. Rates shown for … in … Rates are shown for the country and currency of your payout account; before you have set one up, for your profile’s primary country.

  • Prices for … names your country and says whether its own rates, its region’s or the platform rates apply (see above).
  • Commission — What United Pet Club keeps from each sale. The rate depends on the kind of sale. The software itself is free. It lists Service bookings, In-person classes and Online classes, each with the rate in force now under Current and, when a change has been scheduled, the next rate under Upcoming with the date it starts. Service bookings have been at 1.25% since 20 September 2026; the two class rates since 9 October 2026. The notes under the table say that a booking pays once on the total, that a class held by video is an online class, that The Pro plan removes the commission on service bookings only. Classes keep theirs., that tips carry no Commission, and that a booking paid outside pays the same Commission. Once quote sales are published for your country, the table also has a Quote sale (of the accepted total) row, and the notes add that a quote’s Commission comes from the deposit first and that quote ads cost US$50 per active ad per month.
  • Platform Processing Fee — United Pet Club’s published fee on card payments. It is our rate, not a pass-through of a payment provider’s fee. It lists the rate for each way a card can be presented: online, in person, and, in Canada, Interac debit in person. Each published schedule has a version number and a start date. A new version appears under Upcoming at least 30 days before it takes effect, so you always see a change coming.
  • Stripe Payout Fees — the per-payout fee and the monthly fee, the GST/HST note for Canadian accounts, and a Payout settings link to where you choose how often you’re paid. See below.
  • Platform video shows the published rate for video visits and classes hosted on the platform, per participant-minute, with the next version under Upcoming at least 30 days before it starts.
  • Example works the numbers on an $80 booking with a $10 tip, paid online, for the current rate and for the upcoming one when there is one: the Commission (with a note when the minimum applied), the Platform Processing Fee, and what you receive. A line under it shows what the Stripe Payout Fees take when that money is paid out.
  • Refunds, disputes and payouts restates the rules from the table above, including the payout schedule and Automatic payouts are sent once your available balance reaches $50.00. You can request a smaller payout at any time.

The page is read-only. The fees on a real booking are calculated by United Pet Club when the booking is paid and recorded on that booking’s earnings line, so a later change to the schedule never touches a booking that was already priced.

Your earnings reach your bank through Stripe, United Pet Club’s payment partner, and Stripe charges for each payout. You pay those costs at exactly Stripe’s price, with no margin added by United Pet Club. The Stripe Payout Fees card on the Fees page reads What Stripe charges to send your earnings to your bank, charged at Stripe’s cost with nothing added. They are netted from your earnings like your other fees.

The amounts are in your payout currency: CA$ for a Canadian account, US$ for a US one.

How they are paid. The fees are not taken out of the payout itself: they are added to your statement as Stripe Payout Fees and Stripe Payout Fees — monthly fee and deducted from your next earnings, like the Commission on a cash booking. If no earnings come in to cover them, they are charged with your other platform fees at month-end — see Why we ask for a card.

For example, a weekly payout of $500 costs 0.25% × $500 + $0.25 = $1.50. If it is your first payout of the month, the $2.00 monthly fee is added once, so $3.50 for that payout, then $1.50 for each further payout that month. A business in Ontario also pays HST 13% on those amounts.

Paying fewer of them. Fewer payouts mean fewer per-payout fees, and a month without a payout has no monthly fee. Monthly payouts cost the least; Weekly is the default; Daily costs the most. The Payout settings card estimates each choice’s monthly cost before you pick, and automatic payouts wait until you have at least $50 so a small balance doesn’t pay the monthly fee on its own.

Builders of grooming vans, trailers and mobile units sell them through quote ads: the buyer asks for a quote, accepts it and pays a deposit through United Pet Club, and pays the balance to the builder directly. These have their own fees, under the same three names:

ItemRateNotes
Commission, quote sale1.25% of the accepted quote’s totalNo minimum. On the total before any taxes the seller collects, not only on the deposit. Taken from the deposit first; whatever the deposit can’t cover is charged to your card on file when the buyer accepts. A quote with no deposit puts the whole Commission on your card

Refund of the depositCommission returned only on a full refundRefunding the whole deposit returns the Commission, both parts. A partial refund keeps it. A deal with no deposit that falls through keeps its Commission unless UPC reverses it

The Pro plan doesn’t remove the quote sale Commission. If the quote ad fee can’t be charged after the usual retries, the ad is suspended until you pay. The worked example and the fee panel you see while writing a quote are on Quote requests.

On your statement these show as Quote deposit (the deposit, with its fees), Commission — accepted quote (charged to your card) and Quote ad fee, and in Canada with their tax lines, for example HST 13% on the quote ad fee.

Before your business takes bookings in Schedule, you agree to the service-booking fee for your country once. It’s step 2 of the Schedule setup checklist: the checklist shows the same rates as this page (for example Commission: 1.25% of each booking (at least CA$0.50), plus the Platform Processing Fee., followed by the class rates and the Stripe Payout Fees), and See all fees brings you here.

Your yes is for that rate. When United Pet Club publishes a new one, it appears here under Upcoming with its start date, and a New service fees from date notice on your Schedule pages lets you accept it ahead of time. If the new rate takes effect before you’ve accepted it, the checklist asks again; see When the service fees change.

The Platform video card on the Fees page is the published rate per participant-minute for sessions that run on United Pet Club’s video. It is metered, not a percentage: everyone in the room, including you, rounded up per person, only while the room is open. Finances → Fees → Video usage this month shows the running total and every session; one Platform video usage line is deducted from your payout at the start of the next month. Your own meeting link is free, and a Pro plan removes the Commission on service bookings but not video minutes. Details: Virtual sessions.

Running your own promotions is free. Each time a customer uses one of your promo codes (or one of your referral rewards) on an order they pay for, you pay a per-claim fee: 2 % by default of the items your promotion lowered, after your discount and before tax (shipping and your other items don’t count). It shows on your statement as Promotion claim fee, is taken like the Commission, and is given back in proportion if you refund. Your discount also lowers the Commission, which is charged on the discounted price. See Running your own promotions.

The Platform Agreement (section 13.5) asks you to record the true price of every booking, including the ones a client pays you in cash or by e-Transfer and the ones an app books for you. For each type of service there is a reference price: the typical price of that service for that size of pet where you work, worked out from what businesses charge on United Pet Club or, until there are enough bookings, from a reference table United Pet Club keeps.

  • When your price is at or above the reference, nothing changes. The Commission is on your price, as always.
  • When the price you record is lower than the reference, the Commission is worked out on the reference price instead. The booking still goes ahead; it is never refused. On a $20 groom with a $70 reference, the Commission is 1.25% of $70 = $0.88 instead of $0.50.
  • You see it when it applies. In Mark paid outside, an amount below the reference shows The amount is below $70.00, the reference price for this service, so the commission is based on $70.00 (Platform Agreement 13.5). next to the Commission. There is no list of reference prices to look up.
  • Only the Commission. The Platform Processing Fee is always on the amount the card was actually charged, and products, animal deposits and classes are not affected.
  • Bookings may be reviewed. A price below the reference can be checked by United Pet Club. Recording a price lower than the one you charged breaks the Platform Agreement (section 13.6).

A booking pays one Commission however it is paid. If the client pays the deposit by card and the rest in cash, or pays in two cash payments, the Commission is worked out once on the whole booking, with one minimum, and only the part not yet paid comes out of your payout.

If a booking is marked completed but is neither paid through United Pet Club nor marked paid outside within 14 days, the Commission is charged on the booking’s quoted price, as if it had been paid outside. If you record the payment afterwards, anything charged twice is given back automatically, so the booking still pays one Commission.

Why is the Commission sometimes $0.50 instead of 1.25%? The minimum. On a $20 booking 1.25% is $0.25, so the $0.50 floor applies; from $40 upwards the percentage is the larger of the two and the minimum never comes into play. Classes have the same $0.50 minimum, which only matters below about $7 (in person) or $3 (online).

Do I pay the Commission on a tip? No. A tip carries the Platform Processing Fee only, because it is card money that has to be processed; United Pet Club takes no Commission on it.

I collected cash. Do I still pay? Yes, if you record the booking as paid outside the platform. The same Commission (1.25%, minimum $0.50, for a booking) is calculated on the amount you enter and netted from your next payout, so the software stays free whichever way your clients pay. When the amount is below the service’s reference price, the Commission is worked out on the reference price instead.

Why was I charged a Commission on a booking I didn’t record? It was completed more than 14 days ago and never settled, so the Commission was charged on its quoted price. Record the payment in the booking and anything charged twice comes back. See A completed booking you never settle.

Is the Platform Processing Fee just passed through from the card processor? No. It is United Pet Club’s own published rate. Today it equals the processor’s list price, so there is no spread; if that changes, the new rate appears under Upcoming first, with at least 30 days’ notice.

Are the Stripe Payout Fees a United Pet Club fee? No. They are Stripe’s own charges for paying you out, passed on at Stripe’s price with nothing added. They carry the Stripe name so you can tell them apart from the Commission and the Platform Processing Fee. Only the GST/HST on them, for Canadian accounts, is added on top.

I run classes. Is the Commission different? Yes, since 9 October 2026. A class pays its own Commission once per enrolment: 7% when it is held in person and 17% when it is held by video, minimum $0.50, plus the Platform Processing Fee on card payments. The Pro plan doesn’t remove it: Pro covers service bookings only.

What does platform video cost? One cent per participant-minute: a 30-minute video visit with one client is 30 participant-minutes; a 60-minute class with eight participants is 480. The rate is published on the Fees page and, like the Platform Processing Fee, any change appears under Upcoming at least 30 days ahead.

What if my country is not listed? The page says so. Bookings cannot be priced in a market without a published Platform Processing Fee, so contact support before you start taking card payments there.

Why is something more expensive in the app than on the website? When a purchase goes through Apple’s App Store or Google Play billing, that store keeps a commission before the money reaches anyone. It appears on the Fees page as its own row under Platform Processing Fee — “In the app (App Store)” or “In the app (Google Play)” — and is added on top of United Pet Club’s fees, never taken out of your share: in-app prices are set higher so you receive the same amount as on the web. This only applies where the store insists on in-app billing (digital items and subscriptions). Bookings, products and animal deposits are paid through Stripe in the app exactly as on the web, with no store fee. Nothing is sold through a store yet, so you will not see these rows until there is a rate to show.
