Copyright notices about your content

Sometimes a photographer, a writer, an artist or a brand owner tells us that something posted on United Pet Club uses their work or trademark without permission. That message is a copyright notice (or a trademark notice). When it names something one of your profiles posted, we e-mail you, and the notice appears in your Dashboard. This page explains what it means and what you can do.

Settings → Copyright notices (/dashboard/copyright) in the Dashboard, for the profile you’re acting as. Every profile has it. The e-mails we send you link straight to it. If a notice is about another of your profiles, switch to that profile first.

The page lists every notice about this profile’s content, newest first:

ColumnWhat it shows
ContentThe title of what was reported, and what it is (a post, a blog article, a recipe, a photo or file, a store item, a website and so on).
NoticeThe notice reference (it starts with CN-) and whether it is about Copyright or Trademark.
ReceivedWhen we received it.
StatusWhat happened to your content (below). You can send a counter-notice shows under the status when you can.

Select a row to open the notice. Below the list, the Strikes card shows this profile’s strikes.

When there’s nothing to show, the page says No copyright notices.

StatusWhat it means for your content
Taken downHidden from everyone but you while our team reviews the notice. If you believe it was removed by mistake, send a counter-notice. When our team has reviewed it and confirmed the removal, you can still send one.
In reviewOur team is reviewing the notice. Your content is still visible.
Kept upOur team reviewed the notice and kept your content up.
RestoredYour content is back up.
Not foundWe couldn’t find this content, so nothing was removed.
Removed by youYou removed the content yourself, so there’s nothing to answer.
ReceivedWe received the notice and will e-mail you about it.
  • The content is not deleted. You still see it; nobody else does, anywhere on United Pet Club.
  • You can’t put it back yourself while it is taken down. For example, you can’t republish a blog article, edit a post, publish a course or reactivate a store item: the Dashboard refuses it while the notice stands.
  • You can still delete it if you want.
  • It comes back when our team keeps it up or restores it, or after a counter-notice (below).

The notice page (Notice CN-…) shows:

  • the content, its status and what the status means, with View the content when it has a public page;
  • The notice: the Reference, the Type, who it was Sent by (and whether they are The rights owner or An agent acting for the owner), the Rights holder, the Law they rely on, when it was Received, when it was Taken down (Right away, when the notice arrived if it came down at once), when it was Reviewed, and Their work (or Their trademark) with a link to their original when they gave one;
  • the Counter-notice card: the form, or the progress of the counter-notice you sent.

You see the sender’s name, but not their e-mail, phone number or address. Those stay with our team.

If you believe your content was removed by mistake or misidentified, for example because it is your own photo or you have permission to use it, you can answer with a counter-notice. You can send one for content that is Taken down, one at a time per item.

  1. Open the notice and select Send a counter-notice.
  2. Fill in Your full name, Phone, Email address and Postal address. Your name and e-mail start from your account.
  3. Under Why was it removed by mistake?, explain. For example: “I took this photo myself in May 2025, and the original file is on my phone.”
  4. Tick both statements:
    • that you believe in good faith, under penalty of perjury, the content was removed by mistake or misidentification;
    • that you consent to the jurisdiction of the courts where you live (or, if you live outside Canada and the United States, where United Pet Technologies Inc. is located), and will accept service of legal process from the person who sent the notice or their agent.
  5. Type your full name under Signature: type your full name, and select Send counter-notice.
Counter-notice statusWhat it means
Counter-notice sent: our team is checking itWe received it.
Counter-notice forwarded to the sender of the noticeWe sent it to them. The notice page shows the date your content comes back: 10 business days after we forwarded it, unless the sender starts a court action first.
Content restored after your counter-noticeYour content is back, and the strike for it is lifted.
The sender of the notice started a court action, so the content stays downThe matter is now between you and the sender.
Counter-notice not acceptedOur team didn’t accept it, so the content stays down. You can send a new, complete counter-notice.

We e-mail you when your content comes back.

When our team reviews a notice and confirms that your content infringes, this profile gets a strike. Content that came down automatically when a notice arrived doesn’t give a strike until our team confirms it.

  • A strike counts for 12 months, then expires.
  • A strike is lifted if the content is restored: after a counter-notice, or when our team reverses its decision.
  • The Strikes card on the Copyright notices page shows how many active strikes this profile has out of 3, and each strike with the date it was issued and the date it stops counting (or when it was lifted or expired).

At 3 active strikes, our team reviews the profile and may suspend it, and may also suspend or close the account it belongs to. We e-mail you when a profile reaches 3. A suspension shows on your Standing page.

Copyright strikes only count copyright and trademark notices. They are separate from other standing issues and don’t change your reputation score.
