Privacy

Privacy in the sidebar is where you say yes or no to each way your data can be used. Every choice is a switch you can flip back at any time, and everything that sends data outside United Pet Club is off until you turn it on.

Privacy opens a group of pages: Consents, Data Sharing, Visits (what the owners of pages you visit can see about you — see Audience Insights), and two marked Planned — Visibility and Export & Delete — which are not usable yet.

Privacy → Consents (/account/privacy/consents) — Decide how your data is used for marketing, analytics, AI and more. Options are grouped by purpose:

GroupWhat the switches cover
AI & machine learningAI vet triage (switch); Train AI on my pet photos and Train AI on breed & lineage data (Part of the Platform Agreement)
Analytics & insightsProduct analytics, Behavioural analytics
Diagnostics & telemetryDiagnostics & crash reports
Marketing & promotionsMarketing emails, Marketing text messages, Promotional push notifications, Partner offers

Security & fraud preventionFraud detection

Which rows appear depends on your profile; each row explains what it covers in one line.

To allow something, turn its switch on. You will see Allowed: … (for example Allowed: Marketing emails). To stop it, turn the switch off — you will see Consent withdrawn. Withdrawing stops future use; it does not undo what was already done.

A row marked Sensitive asks you to confirm before it turns on: Allow sensitive data use? This involves sensitive data. You can withdraw your consent at any time, which stops future use. Click Allow to proceed or Cancel.

Some rows show a badge such as Legitimate interest, Contract or Legal obligation — that is the legal basis we rely on for that processing. Status badges tell you where each item stands: Allowed, Withdrawn, Expired, Pending or Not set, with a renewal date where one applies.

Under the switches, Consent history is a record of every consent you’ve given or withdrawn, newest first, with the date of each change. It fills in as you use the switches above.

Privacy → Data Sharing (/account/privacy/data-sharing) — Control what leaves United Pet Club for trusted partners, search engines and advertisers. Each switch shows what applies to your profile right now.

GroupSwitches
AdvertisingTargeted advertising — use your data to show ads more relevant to you. Off until you turn it on.
Partner data sharingInsurance partners — share what’s needed for insurance partners to prepare quotes. Breed registries — share registration details with recognised breed registries. Both off until you turn them on.
Partner data sharingList my public profile in search engines — let search engines like Google, and AI assistants, find your public profile and show it in their results. Starts on for a business or organization profile and off for a personal one (see below).

The switches work exactly like the Consents page, including the Sensitive confirmation. If you see No data sharing available, there are no partner, search or advertising options for your profile right now.

This switch decides whether search engines and AI assistants may list the public page of the profile you are acting as (unitedpetclub.com/…/accounts/your-handle and every page under it, such as its pets and blog). It never hides the page: anyone with the link can open your profile either way.

What you see depends on the kind of profile, and the switch always shows what the website does right now:

Your profileUntil you chooseWhat the switch does
Business or organization (breeder, groomer, vet, shelter, club, place…)Listed. The switch is on with an On by default badge.Turn it off to stop listing: we remove your profile from our sitemap and ask search engines not to show it. Copies a search engine or AI assistant already made can take a while to disappear. Turn it back on any time.
Personal (a pet owner)Not listed. The switch is off with an Off by default badge.Turn it on to be listed. Turn it off again any time.

A profile that declares a professional kind (for example a pet owner who also breeds) counts as a business here, the same way the website labels it. Once you have used the switch, the badge shows your choice (Allowed or Withdrawn) instead of the default, and your choice wins over the default from then on. Each profile has its own switch: change it while acting as that profile.

The public website shows two kinds of ads: our own United Pet Club ads, and Google AdSense ads. Some pages also show pet products from retailers (Amazon, Chewy, Petco, PetSmart and others), marked Affiliate link: if you buy after clicking one, the retailer pays us a commission and your price does not change. We choose these products ourselves from the page you are on (for example a breed page shows that breed’s products), not from your history, and they need no cookies.

  • Google ads only if you accept advertising cookies. If you decline them in the cookie banner, or your browser sends Global Privacy Control, you only see our own ads. You can change your choice any time with Cookie Preferences in the footer.
  • In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google also asks you directly. After you accept advertising cookies in our banner, Google’s message may appear the first time a Google ad would load. It offers Consent, Do not consent and Manage options. If you choose Do not consent, you see our own ads for the rest of your visit.

Both pages show a Planned badge and coming soon. Until they ship:

  • There is no default-visibility setting yet. Each address you add has its own Visibility choice (see Contact details).
  • To get a copy of your data or to delete your account, use Account Settings → Close Account, which includes an Email me a data export before closing option — see Closing your account. For a data copy without closing, contact support.
  • Couldn’t record the consent / Couldn’t withdraw the consent — the change did not save. Reload and try the switch again.
  • No consents to manage — your profile has no data-use options yet; nothing is being used without your say-so.
