Virtual sessions
A service can happen over video instead of in the salon or at the client’s door. You choose, per service, how it meets:
| Option | How it works | What it costs |
|---|---|---|
| Platform video | United Pet Club creates a private room for every booking (one shared room per class slot). It opens 10 minutes before the start and closes 30 minutes after the end, or when you end it. Everyone joins from a link — no app to install. | Metered: the published rate per participant-minute (see Fees), added up for everyone in the room including you, and deducted from your payout at month end. |
| My own meeting link | Your Zoom, Google Meet or Teams link is attached to the booking and sent to the client. | Free — nothing is metered. |
The Commission depends on whether the session is a class. A one-to-one virtual session is a service booking and pays the usual 1.25% (minimum $0.50, once per booking). A virtual class (more than one client per session) is an online class and pays 17% per enrolment (minimum $0.50); the same class held in person pays 7%. See Fees. A Pro plan removes the Commission on service bookings, but not on classes and not video minutes — they are a real cost, like text messages. If you already pay for your own Daily account, ask support to connect it and paste the connection id into the Video account card on Schedule → Services: sessions then run on your account and are never metered (Back to platform video switches back).
Setting it up
Section titled “Setting it up”- Schedule → Services → Add service (or the Video button on an existing service).
- Under Where it happens, choose Virtual (video). For a group class, set Clients per session above 1 — everyone booked into the same time shares one room.
- Choose Platform video or My own meeting link (paste an
https://link). Platform video needs a card on file — or a positive balance from bookings paid through the platform — because the minutes are billed with no payout to net them from: if you have neither, the editor says so under the option and, when you save, asks you to add a card right there (a $0 verification, nothing charged) and finishes the change once the card is on file. Switching a service to your own link never asks. - Platform video only: switch on Record platform sessions if you want a recording in your Media library (recordings count against your storage allowance).
- The estimate under the block tells you what a full session will cost before anything is scheduled — for example About CA$1.20 for a 60-min session with 2 participants. The rate is the one published on Finances → Fees; if it cannot be read at that moment the editor says so rather than guessing.
During and after a session
Section titled “During and after a session”Open the appointment. The Video session card shows the mode, the room status and how many people are in the room right now.
- Join video session — you join as the host. The button works from 10 minutes before the start. Your client gets the same Join link in their confirmation and reminders; a client without an account uses the link from their email, nobody needs to sign up.
- Copy client join link — hand the link out yourself if you need to.
- End session — closes the room early; metering stops there. Otherwise the room closes on its own 30 minutes after the booked end.
- After the room closes, the card shows the actual minutes and the charge: for example 40 participant-minutes · 2 participants · Charge at the published rate: CA$0.40. A session that ran on your own link or your own video account says not metered.
What you pay, and when
Section titled “What you pay, and when”- Minutes are counted per person, rounded up per person (a 20 min 1 s stay counts as 21), and only while the room is open. Someone who drops and rejoins counts once.
- Finances → Fees → Video usage this month shows the running total, every session, and the last month-end deduction.
- At the start of each month one line — Platform video usage — is deducted from your payout for the previous month. If there is nothing to deduct it from, it is charged to your card on file with your other platform fees.
- If platform fees stay unpaid, platform video is paused: new virtual bookings fall back to your own meeting link. Everything else keeps working. The appointment card shows Platform video is paused and says: “Pay them on the Platform fees card in Finances › Billing, or add a link below.” Finances › Billing is a link to that card; pay with Pay … now there to resume, or paste your own meeting link in the box below the notice.
What clients see
Section titled “What clients see”Clients see Online video session on the service when they book. Their confirmation and reminders
carry a Join link that opens unitedpetclub.com/…/appointments/…/join: they allow their camera
and microphone and are in the room — no account, no app. Members can also open the join page from
My bookings. On your own meeting link, the same button simply opens your link.
