Recipes

Your dashboard’s Recipes section is the community cookbook. Every recipe is built from real ingredients with real nutrition data, checked for pet safety before it goes live, and labelled with what it is for. You can browse and rate other members’ recipes, keep a list of your picks, and, if selling is enabled on your profile, sell recipes or a cookbook subscription.

Recipes in the sidebar (/dashboard/recipes) opens Browse Recipes. Under it: My Recipes (/dashboard/recipes/mine), New Recipe, My Ingredients, My Picks and Selling Recipes. If you do not see the section, it has not been released on your site yet.

Browse Recipes searches everything published. Narrow it by Species, Purpose, Trust and Free of (allergens), and sort by Most recommended, Best rated, Newest or Quickest. Each card shows the recipe’s purpose, its trust marks, calories per serving, time, rating and how many members recommend it.

Recipe titles and summaries can carry a translation for each of the platform’s languages. When one exists for the language you are browsing in, the recipe page shows it; otherwise you see the author’s original. A translation marked machine translated was produced automatically and has not been reviewed by a person — the ingredients, quantities and steps underneath are always the author’s own. Every recipe remembers the language it was written in (the language you were using when you created it), so a translation is always made from the original rather than from another translation. Measure units are the platform’s shared units, so “cup” and “gram” mean the same thing in every recipe and every language.

LabelWhat it is
Everyday MealA daily diet, checked against the platform’s daily nutrition profile for the targeted pets.
Condition SupportA long-term diet built around a health condition. Follow your veterinarian’s guidance.
Gentle MealA short-term bland or post-procedure meal. The recipe says how many days to feed it (at most 14), then return to the usual diet.
Treat & TopperTreats, toppers and rewards. Keep them under a tenth of your pet’s daily calories.
  • Vet Reviewed — a veterinarian on the platform checked the recipe. The mark re-opens whenever the recipe’s content changes.
  • UPC Recommended — a free, merit-based seal from the platform’s reviewers. Click the seal on the public recipe page to see its certificate, number and re-review date.

From a card or a recipe page you can Pick it (add it to your recommendations) or Rate it (one to five stars, with a short review and how your pet took to it).

New Recipe walks through five steps. Save draft at any point; nothing is public until you publish.

  1. Basics — title, summary, the feeding purpose (above), meal types, difficulty, prep and cook time. A Gentle Meal also asks Feed for up to (days), 1 to 14. Avoid medical claims: titles or steps that promise to treat, cure or prevent a condition are rejected.
  2. Ingredients — Add ingredient searches a catalog of over 8,000 foods with full nutrition (curated staples come first) plus anything you added yourself. Each row shows its preparation (raw, cooked, canned…) and calories per 100 g. Raw and cooked versions of a food are different entries with different calories, so pick the one that matches how you weigh it; a chosen row offers its other preparations to switch. Enter a quantity in grams, a volume, or a household measure (cup, tbsp, piece, slice…) — the line shows the grams and calories it works out to. Something missing? Custom adds your own ingredient with its nutrition per 100 g (private to you until you share it or publish a recipe using it).
  3. Steps — one instruction per step with an action (prep, cook, bake, mix, store…). End with a storage step (how long it keeps refrigerated or frozen); the UPC Recommended program requires one.
  4. Pets & yield — which species and life stages the recipe is for and how suitable it is, optional health conditions it supports, servings per batch, and the finished batch weight. Cooking changes weight (water leaves) but not calories: weigh the cooked batch so calories per 100 g and grams per day describe what you actually serve. If you did not weigh it, enter a cooked yield percentage instead.
  5. Photo & access — a hero photo from your media library (required for the seal) and who can read the recipe: Public, Members, Paid, Unlisted (by link) or Private (you and collaborators).

Open the recipe from My Recipes. On Nutrition & portions, Run check. The check flags unsafe or caution ingredients for the targeted pets, allergens, missing quantities and, for Everyday Meals and Condition Support, how the recipe measures against the daily nutrition profile. Blockers must be fixed before publishing; warnings and notes are guidance. The same tab shows calories per batch, per serving and per 100 g as served, the core nutrients, and How much to feed: enter a pet’s species, weight and activity level to get grams per day and how many days a batch lasts.

Publish makes the recipe live according to its access level. Publishing also shares any private custom ingredient the recipe uses so other members can copy and adapt it.

On Trust marks:

  • Submit for review sends a published recipe to a veterinarian for Vet Reviewed.
  • UPC Recommended lists what is still missing (photo, storage step, servings, Vet Reviewed, a clean check, and for Everyday Meals the daily profile). When everything checks out, accept the program terms and Apply for the seal. Reviewers are independent; the seal is suspended if the recipe changes or a report is upheld, and re-reviewed yearly.

On Contributions you can invite collaborators (co-author or editor can edit; reviewer and contributor are credited), see suggested edits from readers and Accept or Decline them (accepting applies the change and credits the proposer), and see how many members copied the recipe. Readers use Copy & adapt on any recipe they can fully read to start their own version, which keeps a credit line back to the original.

Invitations arrive on My Recipes; open suggestions are counted there too.

On Products, link platform catalog items to the recipe or to a single ingredient line: an ingredient source, a tool, a supplement or a product you recommend alongside it.

My Ingredients lists the custom ingredients you added, their preparation and calories, and lets you Share publicly. My Picks lists the recipes you recommend; Withdraw removes one.

Selling Recipes shows whether selling is enabled on your profile (it comes with eligible plans, memberships or a verified professional profile), your offers, sales and purchases.

  • A cookbook subscription (monthly or annual) unlocks every recipe you mark Paid.
  • On a recipe’s Selling tab you can instead sell that recipe on its own (one-time or a subscription).
  • Set the price (a zero price makes it free) and Create offer; activate it right away or keep it as a draft.

Readers of a paid recipe see the title, summary, nutrition and your offers; the ingredients and steps unlock after purchase. The platform’s commission is taken from each sale; the rest goes to your payout balance.

Report on any recipe (unsafe, inaccurate, medical claims, spam, copied) sends it to the platform’s reviewers. While a report is open the recipe’s trust marks are suspended.
