Receive payments

If you sell through United Pet Club — memberships, products, services — or collect donations, the money buyers pay has to reach your bank account. Receive Payments is where you set that up. You’ll find it in the dashboard under Finances → Receive Payments.

Setup is handled securely by Stripe, our payment partner. Your identity and bank details go directly to Stripe — United Pet Club never sees or stores them.

  1. Open Finances → Receive Payments.
  2. Choose Set up receive payments. You’ll be sent to Stripe’s secure setup flow.
  3. Follow the steps on Stripe — identity details and the bank account your earnings should be paid to.
  4. When you finish, Stripe returns you to the dashboard, which confirms your status automatically.

The setup button is only offered while your profile isn’t set up yet. Once your account is active, the page shows your live status instead.

  • Not set up — you haven’t started; selling surfaces will ask you to register before you can list something for sale or publish a fundraising campaign.
  • Setup in progress — you started but didn’t finish. Choose Continue setup to pick up where you left off (setup links are single-use, so the button always opens a fresh one).
  • Action needed — Stripe needs updated information. Choose Update details on Stripe to resolve it.
  • Active — you’re ready: earnings from your sales accumulate automatically and pay out to your bank account.

When your account is active the page shows what Stripe holds for it, so you can confirm payouts are going to the right place without opening Stripe:

  • Business — the legal name, business name, type (individual, company, non-profit), contact email, phone, address and the currency you’re paid in.
  • Payout bank account — the bank and the last four digits of the account, which one is the default for each currency, and its status (Added, Verified, Needs attention). Full account numbers are never shown or stored by United Pet Club.

How often you’re paid isn’t set on Stripe: it’s the Payout settings card on this page (below).

To change any of it — your legal address, the person representing the business, your bank account — choose Manage on Stripe. It opens your Stripe dashboard in a new tab. When you’re done, come back and choose Check status so the page (and the business verification checklist) shows what Stripe now holds. To start over with a different account, use Disconnect.

Once your account is active, the Payout settings card sits under the status card: How often your earnings are paid to your bank. Every payout carries the Stripe Payout Fees, charged at Stripe’s cost. It’s the one place you choose your payout schedule, and it shows what that schedule costs right beside it.

Under Payout schedule, pick one:

ChoiceWhen you’re paidGood to know
DailyEvery day your balance allows.Needs the instant-payout add-on. Without it the choice is greyed out, with a Get the add-on link to Finances → Billing → Add-ons
Weekly (Default)Every Friday. What every account starts on
MonthlyOn the 1st of each month. The fewest Stripe Payout Fees.

Under each choice the card estimates what it costs if $1,000 is paid out in a month (Estimates for $1,000.00 paid out in a month.). With the rates for Canada and the United States:

ChoiceLine under it
DailyAbout 20 payouts a month · About $9.50 a month in Stripe Payout Fees
WeeklyAbout 4 payouts a month · About $5.50 a month in Stripe Payout Fees
MonthlyAbout 1 payout a month · About $4.75 a month in Stripe Payout Fees

Daily shows 20 payouts rather than 30 because of the $50 minimum: $1,000 makes at most 20 payouts of $50. The estimate is an illustration, not a quote; your real fees follow what is actually paid out.

Select a choice to switch. You’ll see Payout schedule saved., and your payout history records Automatic payouts set to … with Changed in the Dashboard. If the switch fails you’ll see Couldn’t change your payout schedule. Try again.

If the instant-payout add-on ends or is paused, daily payouts go back to weekly by themselves (The instant-payout add-on ended or was paused).

  • Stripe Payout Fees — 0.25% + $0.25 per payout and $2.00 in each month with a payout, plus GST/HST added for Canadian accounts. when your account is in Canada. See Fees for what they are.
  • Minimum payout — $50.00, in your payout currency: Automatic payouts wait until your available balance reaches $50.00. You can request a smaller payout at any time.
  • Available to pay out — the part of your Stripe balance that is available now, which is what the next payout would send.
  • Last payout and Next payout run dates.
  • The Request a payout button (below).

If the card can’t load you’ll see Payout settings couldn’t be loaded right now. Your payouts are not affected.

When your schedule comes round (each day, each Friday or the 1st, counted in UTC), United Pet Club pays out everything available in your Stripe balance to your bank, as long as it’s at least $50. Below $50 nothing is sent that time, and the balance waits for the next scheduled day on which it has reached $50.

A small balance isn’t held forever. Stripe only keeps funds waiting for a payout for a limited time, so if 80 days pass without a payout, the balance is paid out anyway, as long as it’s more than the fees it would cost. Your payout history shows that payout as Paid out before Stripe’s holding limit.

Each payout carries the Stripe Payout Fees. They aren’t taken out of the payout: they’re added to your statement and deducted from your next earnings, like your other fees.

You can be paid now, on any day and for any amount, even below the $50 minimum, because you pay that payout’s fees yourself.

  1. On the Payout settings card, choose Request a payout. The dialog reads Your available balance is paid to your bank now. Check the Stripe Payout Fees before you confirm.
  2. Check the figures. The dialog lists:
    • Payout — your whole available balance, which is what is sent;
    • Stripe Payout Fees — 0.25% of that amount + $0.25;
    • Stripe monthly fee (first payout this month) — $2.00, only when you haven’t had a payout yet this calendar month;
    • the GST or HST, for example HST 13%, when your account is in Canada;
    • Total fees, then The fees are netted from your earnings like your other fees, not taken from this payout.
  3. If the amount is under $50, an amber notice says This is below the $50.00 minimum for automatic payouts. You can still request it, because you pay its fees.
  4. Tick I agree to pay these Stripe Payout Fees for this payout.
  5. Choose Pay out $… (the button shows the amount). You’ll see Payout of $… requested.

For example, a $40.00 request that is the first payout of the month, for a business in Ontario: Stripe Payout Fees $0.35, Stripe monthly fee $2.00, HST 13% $0.31, Total fees $2.66. The full $40.00 goes to your bank; the $2.66 is netted from your next earnings.

Nothing is sent until you confirm. If your balance or the fees change while the dialog is open (a new payment arrives, say), you’ll see The amount or fees changed. Check the new figures and confirm again. with the new numbers, and the tick is cleared. Other messages:

  • There is nothing to pay out right now. — no balance is available yet.
  • The GST/HST on these fees is not worked out yet. Try again in a moment. — the button stays off until it is.
  • Couldn’t get a payout quote right now. Try again in a moment.

The dialog closes only with Cancel or its close button, never by clicking outside it.

Instant payouts and your payout history are on the Get paid now card under Finances → Billing → Add-ons. The card shows the schedule you’re on (for example Automatic payouts: Weekly, on Friday) with a Change payout schedule link back to the Payout settings card here.

  • Instant payouts (instant-payout add-on) send your instant-eligible balance to a debit card or bank in about 30 minutes. They carry the instant payout fee, taken from the payout, and the Stripe Payout Fees, netted from your earnings like any other payout’s. See When the money reaches your bank.
  • Payout history lists your payouts and every change to your schedule:

One payout account for all your profiles — or one per profile

Section titled “One payout account for all your profiles — or one per profile”

Everything you manage under one login — your personal profile, a business, a club — shares one payout account by default. Set it up once, from any of those profiles, and all of them are paid through it. The status card says Shared across your account when that’s what you’re looking at.

If one of your profiles is a separate business with its own bank account, it can have its own payout account instead:

  1. Switch to that profile and open Finances → Receive Payments.
  2. In Payout account for this profile, choose Use a separate account for this profile and confirm.
  3. Go through Stripe setup again — this time with that profile’s business details and bank account.

From then on the status card for that profile shows This profile only. Earnings from that profile wait until Stripe verifies its new account and are then paid there; they are not sent to the shared account in the meantime. Your other profiles are not affected and keep using the shared account.

To go back, choose Switch back to the shared account on the same card. The profile’s own Stripe account is closed and its future earnings are paid through the shared account again (if the shared account was never set up, payouts pause until it is). As with Disconnect, a payout already on its way must arrive first.

Keep in mind that Disconnect on the shared account affects every profile in your account, not just the one you’re acting as — the confirmation says so.

Anything that collects money from other members asks you to register to receive payments first:

  • Creating an offer in Commerce — an offer collects money from buyers, so the offer form is replaced by a setup prompt until you’re ready.
  • Listing a membership tier for sale — the “List for sale” dialog asks your organization to connect a payout account before the listing steps appear.
  • Publishing a fundraising campaign — drafts can be created any time, but publishing (which starts accepting donations) requires payments to be set up.
  • Your storefront shows a reminder banner until setup is complete — sales keep accruing to your balance either way, but they can’t pay out yet.

Is my banking information safe? Yes — it’s entered on Stripe’s own pages, never on United Pet Club. We only record whether your account is ready to receive payouts.

What happens to sales made before I finish setup? Your earnings accumulate in your seller balance. They pay out automatically once your payment account is active, on your payout schedule.

Why didn’t I get a payout this Friday? Your available balance was under the $50 minimum, or nothing had become available yet. It goes out on the next scheduled day it has reached $50, or choose Request a payout to be paid now.

Are payouts free? No. Each payout carries the Stripe Payout Fees, Stripe’s own charge passed on at cost: 0.25% + $0.25 per payout and $2.00 in each month with a payout, plus GST/HST for Canadian accounts. Monthly payouts keep them lowest. See Fees.

Can I be paid every day? Yes, with the instant-payout add-on: choose Daily under Payout schedule. Each daily payout carries its own Stripe Payout Fees, so daily costs more than weekly.

I want to start over with a different business or bank account. On Finances → Receive Payments, choose Disconnect and confirm. Your Stripe account is closed and payouts stop; the page goes back to “Set up receiving payments” so you can go through setup again with new details. If a payout is still on its way to you, wait for it to arrive first — Disconnect is refused while one is in progress.

Can each of my profiles be paid to a different bank account? Yes — see One payout account for all your profiles — or one per profile above. By default they share one; any profile can switch to its own.

My setup link expired. Links are single-use for security. Go back to Finances → Receive Payments and continue — a fresh link is created each time.
