Fundraising

Fundraising in your Dashboard sidebar is where you give to animal-welfare causes and follow what you have given. Every profile can use it. Running a fundraising campaign of your own is for United Pet Club and verified shelters and rescues.

Fundraising in the sidebar (/dashboard/donations). It’s on for every profile; you can switch it off in Customize Dashboard.

  • Overview: what you have given so far, and a Donate button.
  • My Giving: every gift you made, and your monthly gifts (see Recurring gifts).
  • Beneficiaries: the approved shelters, rescues and causes you can give to, each with its own Donate button.
  • Campaigns: only on a verified shelter or rescue profile (and United Pet Club’s). See below.

Anyone can give, from any profile, and you don’t need a profile at all to give from the website. Choose a beneficiary, or give to a campaign you came across, and pay by card. Your gift shows under My Giving.

Only United Pet Club and verified shelters and rescues can start a campaign and publish it. A shelter or rescue is verified once United Pet Club has approved it as a beneficiary, or once it holds United Pet Club’s shelter and rescue recognition. Adding “Shelter or rescue” to your specializations is not enough on its own.

If your profile can’t run campaigns, Campaigns isn’t in your sidebar. If you open the page from a link, it says Campaigns are run by verified shelters and rescues and offers Give to a cause instead. A campaign you opened before this rule can’t be published any more, but you can still close it.

Sponsoring an animal, sponsoring a kennel, a virtual adoption and a gift in memory of a pet are fundraising campaigns, not things you sell in your store. Gifts to a campaign come with the donation receipt, and donors can give monthly when the campaign allows it.

When you start a campaign in Campaigns, pick its kind:

KindUse it for
Animal sponsorshipSponsoring one animal (usually monthly), a kennel (often yearly), or a virtual adoption
MemorialA fund in memory of a pet

Your other campaign kinds (medical care for one animal, an appeal for the shelter) work the same way.

Once a campaign is published and public, your store page on the website (/accounts/{your handle}/store) shows it in a Support {your name} block, right under your own products, such as your adoption fees. Each campaign gets a card with what kind of gift it is (Sponsorship, In memory, Medical care or Fundraiser), its title and short description, what it has raised (and its goal, if it has one), Monthly gifts welcome when monthly gifts are allowed, and a button: Sponsor, Give in memory or Donate. The button opens the same donate window as everywhere else, with the gift going to you and counting toward that campaign.

Up to six campaigns show, featured ones first, then the newest. A campaign leaves the block when it closes, ends, is paused or suspended, or stops taking gifts after reaching its goal. Drafts, unlisted and private campaigns never show there. If you sell nothing, the block still shows.
