Billing & plans

Your plan is what you pay United Pet Club for, on top of everything that is free. This page covers the plans and add-ons on sale, how billing works, and how to change or cancel.

You don’t need a plan to use United Pet Club. Registering your pets and their IDs, litter records, your profile, blog posts and the directory are free. You pay only for the things below, and you can buy each one on its own:

Pet Care Plus, the support plans and the add-ons sit next to whatever else you have. Buying one never ends another.

Most plans and add-ons can be billed monthly or yearly; paying yearly works out cheaper than twelve monthly payments. Some are sold one way only: Audience Insights Pro is yearly only, so the upgrade window opens on Annual for it. You choose the cadence when you subscribe. Changing it on the same plan isn’t available yet; you can move to another plan and pick its monthly or yearly price (see Changing your plan).

You don’t need to come to this page to upgrade. The Upgrade button in the Dashboard’s top bar — and the prompt you see when you run out of something you buy, such as Litter Passes or contracts, mid-task — opens the same upgrade window wherever you are. (Limits on listings, breeds, litters and blog posts are not plan limits and never open it: see Limits on listings, breeds, litters and posts.)

  • Plans shows the catalogue with a Monthly / Annual toggle and your current plan marked. Pick one and pay right there — card entry happens inside the window, and your bank’s approval step (3-D Secure), if any, appears in the same place.
  • Buy credits is the alternative when you only need more of one thing — say a pack of contracts — without changing plan. Credits are a one-time purchase in pack sizes, they don’t renew, and your plan stays as it is.

Plans and credits you buy here belong to the account that owns the profile you’re acting as. For a business profile that’s the business’s account, even if you signed in with your personal one, so the purchase shows up in the business’s billing.

Once the payment is confirmed the upgrade applies by itself — usually within a few seconds. You can close the window while it’s confirming; the upgrade still completes. Moving to a new plan replaces your old one automatically, so you’re never billed for two plans at once.

Already on a paid plan? The window shows what the move costs before you pay: a bigger plan starts today and costs its price minus a credit for the days left on your current plan, and a cheaper plan waits for your renewal date. See Changing your plan.

Open Account → Subscriptions to see your current plan and its renewal date. You can:

  • Upgrade or downgrade — move to another plan in the same or a different family, from the Upgrade button in the Dashboard’s top bar. Upgrades take effect right away, with a credit for the days left on your current plan; downgrades apply at your next renewal so you keep what you’ve paid for until then. See Changing your plan.
  • Switch billing cadence — not available on the same plan yet. Move to another plan and choose its monthly or yearly price.
  • Change the card that pays for it — from Plan payments under Account → Billing → Funding sources: change the card, add backup cards, or pay a failed payment now. See Paying for your plan.
  • Pause — stop the plan for a while without cancelling it. The pause starts at the end of the period you’ve already paid for, and you aren’t charged while it’s paused. See Pausing your plan.
  • Cancel — stop the subscription. You keep your paid features until the end of the period you’ve already paid for; then they stop, and everything free stays as it is. You won’t be charged again.
  • Get a refund — within 14 days of a payment you can refund a plan, membership or add-on yourself; the subscription ends right away. After that you can ask us. See Getting a refund.

Pausing stops a paid plan for a while without cancelling it. You keep everything you’ve paid for: the pause starts at the end of the current period, on your renewal date.

  1. Open Account → Subscriptions.
  2. On the plan, open the ⋯ menu and select Pause.

What you’ll see: “Your plan pauses on , when the period you paid for ends. You won’t be charged while it’s paused.” Until that date nothing changes. Your plan and its features stay on, and the plan reads Pauses instead of renewing.

On that date we don’t charge you. The plan shows Paused, and its paid features are off until you resume it.

To resume:

  1. Open Account → Subscriptions.
  2. On the paused plan, open the ⋯ menu and select Resume.

Your features come back right away. We charge the plan that day, and it renews a month (or a year) from that day. The time it was paused is never charged.

Changed your mind before the pause starts? Select Don’t pause in the same menu. Your plan renews as usual.

Good to know:

  • Pause needs auto-renew on. With auto-renew off, your plan ends on its date anyway, so there’s nothing to pause.
  • A plan with nothing paid ahead (a free plan, or one already due for renewal) pauses right away.
  • Add-ons are separate. Pausing your plan doesn’t pause them; each has its own ⋯ menu.
  • Pro: while Pro is paused, your service bookings pay the usual Commission again. See Pro plan and add-ons.
  • Cancelling a paused plan ends it, since the period you paid for is already over, and you won’t be charged again. If the pause hasn’t started yet, Cancel at term end keeps your plan until the renewal date, as usual.
  • Moving to another plan while yours is paused starts the new plan right away and replaces the paused one. There’s no credit for the paused plan, because the period you paid for is already over.

Paid plans and add-ons renew automatically at the end of each period (every month or every year), on the card you paid with. The payment window saves that card for the renewals when you buy. If that card is declined, any backup cards you added to the plan are tried in order, and failed payments are tried again for a while before the plan is cancelled. See Paying for your plan. For a profile in Canada, each renewal includes GST/HST, including on plans you bought before the tax started: they pay it from their next renewal.

We e-mail you before every renewal (7 days ahead for a yearly plan, 3 for a monthly one), when a plan is about to end or has no card, and after a payment fails. See E-mails about your plan.

  • No card saved on a plan? It doesn’t renew. It ends at the end of the period you’ve paid for, and its paid features stop then. You keep everything you paid for until that date. This can happen to a plan bought before automatic renewals existed.
  • Auto-renew turned off? Same thing: the plan runs to the end of the paid period, then ends.
  • Cancelled at the end of the period? The plan stays until that date, then ends. It is never charged again.

Each payment produces an invoice you can view and download from Account → Subscriptions. Invoices show the plan, the period covered, the amount, and any discount applied.

Dashboard → Finances → Payments lists every charge you actually made — a membership upgrade, an order, a subscription renewal — with what it was for, the date, the amount and whether it settled. Open a row to see the full status history and any refunds. Each payment that goes through also sends you a receipt by e-mail — see Payment receipts.

A checkout you opened but never completed is not a payment and does not appear here. Neither do donations other people make to your profile — those are money you receive, not money you paid.
