Recommendations

The Recommendations section of your dashboard is the shelf on your public store page. It is where you say “this is worth buying” about the products and services you actually stand behind — and, unlike everything else in the Commerce menu, you do not need a storefront to use it.

A trainer who sells nothing on United Pet Club still has opinions about harnesses. A vet who runs no shop still knows which joint supplement they hand out. Those opinions are worth a page, so recommending is open to every profile.

Your public account page has a Store tab. It shows two things:

  • Products from you — anything you sell yourself, if you have a storefront.
  • Recommended by you — everything on this page, in the order you put it in.

If you have no storefront, visitors just see the second half. Nothing looks broken or missing.

  1. Open Commerce → Recommendations.
  2. Press Recommend something.
  3. Search by name or code and pick the product or service.

You can recommend anyone’s product, including a competitor’s. That is not a loophole — it is the point. A recommendation is your judgement about what is good, not an advertisement for your own shelf.

Only published items can be recommended, so you cannot accidentally point people at something nobody can buy.

Each row has a Where to buy setting, and picking the right one matters more than it looks.

Best offer (automatic) — the default. United Pet Club works out the best live offer each time the page loads. Use this for products. If the seller you had in mind sells out, raises their price, or leaves the platform, your recommendation quietly keeps working with whoever else sells it.

A specific offer — pins your recommendation to one seller’s listing. Use this when the seller is the recommendation:

You are a trainer recommending your own six-week puppy course. “A puppy course” is not what you mean — your puppy course is. Pin it.

Services are almost always pinned. Products almost never are.

If a pinned offer is later withdrawn, your card does not break: the page falls back to the automatic choice, and this page shows “WITHDRAWN — the buy box is choosing instead” so you know to pick a new one.

The Your note column takes a short sentence — up to 280 characters — shown under the card on your store page, in quotation marks, as yours.

“Third season on the same pair. The buckles are the part that usually goes and these haven’t.”

Notes are shown exactly as you write them and are never translated, because they are your words. Write in the language your customers read.

Notes save when you click away from the box, not as you type.

The arrows move a row up or down, and that order is the order visitors see. Put what you most want people to notice at the top.

The eye icon hides a row from your public page while keeping the row, its note and its pinned offer — good for something seasonal you will bring back.

The bin removes it for good. A recommendation you have taken back leaves nothing behind, so adding it again starts from a blank note.

When someone opens a product you recommend, your name shows under the seller line — “Recommended by …” — with your profile picture, linking back to your store page. Only the first few names fit on the line; clicking Recommended by opens the full list, so you are there whether or not you are one of the first. That is how a recommendation earns you visitors as well as giving them a good answer.
